Trouble Shooting - Registry Mechanic
I get an error message when trying to upgrade Registry Mechanic?
Answer: When I attempt to upgrade to version 6.0, I get the error message "An error occurred while trying to replace the existing file: DeleteFile failed; code 5. Access is denied". How do I proceed?
This is caused by remnants of an earlier version of Registry Mechanic still remaining on the hard drive.
To resolve the issue:
- Reboot your computer.
- Navigate to the "\Registry Mechanic" on your hard drive and delete the entire folder it. This is folder is usually found within the "\Program Files" folder.
- Re-install Registry Mechanic again.
When starting Registry Mechanic I get the error "This program has been damaged..."
To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:
Ensure that Registry Mechanic has been uninstalled.
Delete the "\Program Files\Registry Mechanic" folder, if it still exists.
Re-install Registry Mechanic.
